What are Micropigmentation or Powder-Filled Eyebrows?

What are Micropigmentation or Powder-Filled Eyebrows?

Most commonly called permanent cosmetics, other names include derma pigmentation, micro pigmentation, and cosmetic tattooing, the latter being most appropriate since permanent makeup is an innovative cosmetic procedure that enables both men and women to enhance the shape of their eyebrows, hairline, lips, eyes, and more, through the process of depositing pigment into the skin’s dermal layer.

Powder-Filled eyebrows, a soft powdery color that matches your natural hair color can be used to fill in sparse areas in the eyebrows. A powder-filled technique is used as opposed to hair strokes since the person already has eyebrow hair and often an overall eyebrow shape that is already in place.

Micropigmentation Before and AfterThe powder-filled method involves the application of thousands of tiny little dots of pigment, inserted into the skin, gradually building up a color and a defined shape. It is the more traditional method of cosmetic tattoo, and the pigment usually lasts longer when applied in this manner, as it is deeper in the skin.

However, many people are fearful of this method looking too solid or unnatural, because it does indeed have a more defined, solid look than hair strokes alone.

But, what many people don’t realize is it can be made to look very natural looking, by not saturating the desired brow shape 100% with pigment, to allow a defined yet soft non-solid look.

Powder-filled brows do have a more defined look about them than hair strokes, and some people don’t like this look as much, as it lacks texture. The powder fill or block tattoo as in previous decades got quite a bad name for itself, because in much older style facial tattoos, the pigments used were not really suitable for cosmetic tattoo and faded to blue, green or pink.

What is an Ombré Powder Filled Brow?

A newer technique is an Ombré Powder Filled brow. This technique was developed in Asia, done with soft pixilated dots to mimic a powered filled brow. Powder brows are the latest trend in semi-permanent makeup. They frame the face with perfectly shaped eyebrows; two colors are used to create a natural look with depth and dimension fading from light to dark.

Hombre Eyebrow TattooThe technique differs from Permanent Cosmetics or Microblading in that the artist creates a misty, powder-filled brow with shading techniques, similar to the look of makeup.

The results of Ombré brows last longer than other semi-permanent makeup services, approximately 2 years. Ombré powder brows are great for any skin type. While Ombré powder brows have a more “filled-in” look like the permanent tattooed eyebrow, the healed results appear like softly shaded pencil brow. Immediately after the treatment, Ombré powder brows appear more saturated and bold; however, it will fade 30%, leaving a very soft finish.
